White Student Sues Howard University For Racial Discrimination After Expulsion - Is The Bible Wrong About Marriage? | ITBP S7E5

In this weeks episode we discuss whether or not the bible has it right when it comes to marriage. Is the bible just a tool to promote submission, or is it an instruction manual to promote love? And Colorado University football coach, Deion Sanders, made headlines this week when he described what he was looking for in his college athletes. Was there validity to his comments? Or was he just flat out wrong? Also, former Howard University law student, Michael Newman, is suing the university for racial discrimination and is requesting $2 million dollars. Was he really a victim of racial discrimination, or is there more to the story? And lastly, we ask if HBCUs are filling a necessary role in the progress of the Black power movement, or are they following the blueprints of anti-blackness set by PWIs. All that and much more.

White Student Sues Howard For Racial Discrimination

An expelled white student is suing Howard University, a historically Black school, for $2 million over what he claims is racial discrimination, citing “pain, suffering, emotional anguish and damage to his reputation.”

Michael Newman was expelled in September after attending Howard law school starting in 2020. Newman alleges in his suit that the school created a “hostile education environment,” and argues that he suffered “depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts” as a result of “public ostracism, vilification and humiliation.”

What Good Are HBCUs If They Mirror Anti-Blackness

“Since the structure of the black university is based upon the structure of the white, it too reinforces the system,” wrote Tuskegee, Alabama, student Ernest Stephens in a 1967 essay critiquing Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and their institutional orientation to the white supremacist status quo. Nearly 60 years later, this argument still holds up as a prescient rumination on the problems of HBCUs as they remain steadfast in their commitment to upholding an anti-Black social order.

Colorado’s Deion Sanders Attacked For Parenting Comments

Colorado football coach Deion Sanders’s controversial comments about his recruiting style during a recent appearance on The Rich Eisen Show.

The Pro Football Hall of Famer shared that when he looks for quarterbacks, he looks for athletes with a “3.5 GPA and up” as well as “dual-parent” households. “[The quarterback] has to be a leader of men,” Sanders said.

However, when it comes to Sanders’s perspective on defensive linemen, things are different. Sanders said that his D-linemen should come from single-parent homes and receive “free lunch.” “I’m talking about just trying to make it,” Sanders said. “He’s trying to rescue momma. Like, momma barely made the flight.”
